Ginger Fashion Accessories is a wonderful shop full of bags, scarfs, jewellery and gifts you simply can’t find anywhere else. Here Esther tells us more about her business…..
1. Tell us about yourself
I’m Esther and my business is Ginger Fashion Accessories here in the Victorian Market.
2. Tell us about the history of your shop
Myself and my little sister, Rebecca started the shop together in 2009. We both had a passion for fashion and thought ‘let’s go for it’. She actually left five years ago to move on to pastures new and to become a mum. I miss her, of course but I wanted to carry on the business. The reason behind the name …..I am one of four sisters and I am the only one without red hair. When we were trying to think of a name my dad said “Ginger is a good name!” Rebecca was adamant that we were not using Ginger but the name stuck and the rest is history!
3. What is the best thing about being part of the VM?
I worked with my dad, Robert in the electrical shop in the Market for years so I was already part of The Victorian Market family. I really do love it here, it’s a lovely community.
4. Why should people come to your shop?
Supporting small businesses is so important. I am so grateful for every single person who shops here, follows the shop on socials and shares my posts. I take my time to stock the shop with unique lines so you can’t find them anywhere else or online. Also, I try really hard to make sure they are value for money. Lots of my customers return again and again and I’m really proud of that.
5. What’s the best thing about running your own business?
For me, it has to be that I can take my little dog Basil to work with me. He is with me every day and is fourteen years old now.
